I'm trying to decide between these two knives. I'm leaning towards the RS based on the shape of the handle. This is based only on pictures. Price is also a consideration since they seem very similar. Has anybody handled both knives? If so, which do you prefer? How does the steel compare?

I like them both. The RS feel more substantial in the hand and the AMS makes a better slicer. INFI is tough, sharpens easy, and is fairly corrosion resistant. SR101 holds an edge longer and is prone to corrosion. My preference is coated SR101 or satin INFI. If I were buying one of the two knives right now I'd probably go with the RS simply because I have no use for talon holes.

I like both also but prefer the AMS. More neutral feel in my hand where the RS is a little more handle heavy. Both excellent knives.

I'll have my custom RS in hand tomorrow and I have owned 3 AMSs. I let you know what feels better to me. As for steel, I go SR101 for small blades and INFI for bigger. I predict I will prefer the RS which is why I ordered it. AMS is a great blade nonetheless.

Thanks for the input. I think I will get the RS first. After it's delivered I'll see if I still want the AMS.

Man they feel way differant to me in the hand. The RS is much better feeling for hard use for prolonged use. The AMS does work better as a slicer. Both great EDC type knives.

RS vs Spyderco Manix 2 LW, I carry both.

Sheaths are AzWelke.

If you look closely you might notice my 2 AMS's have different handle dimensions. It might be because of the exotic materials. The hollow ground one has a much rounder feel to it and it doesn't fill the hand as much. The flat ground bone handle one is super comfortable. It doesn't have that round feel at all. I also don't really like the hollow grind so much. I think on small blades like these I prefer the full flat grind.

The RS on the other hand has a way beefier handle. I like the feel of it the most. I don't like the rounded spine and pommel as much but maybe the Swamp can leave it squared if someone asks. As I said earlier, I prefer SR101 on smaller blades like this. It seems to hold an edge better than INFI with daily small tasks. Sure INFI takes big blows better but who's going to chop with a 3" blade?

I know this comparison is a little tricky since my AMS's are special editions so take it for what it's worth. I haven't handled a G10 or micarta version.
