Rodgers & Son Folding Bowie?

Anyone ever heard of a folding bowie from Rodgers & Son in Sheffield, Eng?

My dad stumbled across one recently and it's a pretty interesting design. It has a 5 1/2" clipoint blade that folds into a 4 1/2" long handle with wood and bone scales. The extra 1" or so of blade is protected by a steel protrusion of some sort that folds into the handle once the blade is opened and acts as a lock to prevent closing (if that made any sense!). It has a brass crossgaurd that pivots into position when the blade is opened.

It's stamped "Rodgers & Son" on the blade itself, and "No.6 Sheffield Steel" on the tang. The other side of the tang has what appear to be two iron crosses side by side.

Anyone know what I've got? What era it's from? If it's worth anything other than as a curiousity?

I've never seen anything like that, although I have seen other folding Bowies. I do have a Joseph Rodgers & Sons, stag handle steel from a carving set, that's from the 1930's. When I was trying to get some information on it I posted it on Bernard Levine's Forum here. That's exactly what I suggest you do, ask Bernard.

These were fakes, made up in India, using Rodger's trade mark. Run a search in Mr. Levine's forum.
