A lil while back I contacted knifemaker David Roeder about making a piece for me. We sorted out all the details through messages and a phone conversation. He stayed in contact w/ me through the whole process, got pics and videos. Really nice guy and very talented maker and I wanted to post this to showcase that very fact. Knife is being shipped to me as we speak, can't wait to get in in hand.
If you guys don't know who David Roeder is, you should.
This is a 1095 Cable Damascus fighter, Ebony handle w/ copper guard, 11" overall.
Cable
Cutting the cable
Tack welding the cable
On the press
After forging and rough clean up
Grinding the blade
Stamping the makers mark
Finished blade, heat treated, ready for some acid
Fitting the guard
Blade after etching
Ebony handle glued on
Tedious filework on the guard (his favorite part) lol
Completed guard
and without further hesitation....the completed knife (in the background is the remainder of the cable used to forge the blade)
