Does anyone have a Fort Turner and American Tomahawk Co. version of the Rogers Rangers tomahawk they can share a comparison?
I think someone posted this before, but I was unable to get the search to find it.
I thought I remember the FT was lighter in some review, but by the images I've seen, it looks like it could be heavier.

Also, both companies mentioned they based the design form historic drawings...anyone know where those came from?

I've seen some post that showed an actual spike hawk dug up at one of the forts Rogers men were at and it was very small...1.5" blade but with a long curved spike.
More of what I consider a pure fighting hawk and not much good for chores.

Any info or book titles are appreciated.

I also understand ATC and the other company that made them are out of business. I am interested in buying an ATC if you have one for sale let me know.
thanks

If you google-image Robert Rogers you'll get the one etched portrait of him that pops up everywhere. In the less cropped versions you'll see an Indian behind him holding a 'hawk. It looks sort of like the RR hawks you see but it has a second spike at the top- it's a halberd hawk.

If you google-books RR, you'll get his journals. I don't know if they're illustrated at all.

Plan to get the journals. Right now I'm reading "War on the Run." It's a little dry until past page 120.

I have a ATC Rogers Rangers tomahawk. The bit is thick-ish and a little chunky. I have three FT's and the bits are much thinner. I'd guess FT's RR might be almost a pound lighter.

I have the ATC and agree with Wolf that it is rather heavy esp for what I want in a hawk. I had Justin at Ranger Knives mod one of his Ranger spike hawks into a hammer poll and it was about the same in weight as the ATC.

If I remember correctly Justin made the ATC hand forged hawks so he could probably make you one.

Here you can see the ATC and Justin's custom hawk side by side.
