Anyone got any experience with a Rokon Trail Breaker or Scout 2 wheel drive bike? I have been interested in them but don't know anyone who has one. Seems like a good way to get around in the woods.

Only info I've found is on their web site Rokon

I've never had one, but they have been around for a long time. I remember reading reviews back when I was doing a lot of off-road riding back in the 70's.

They just did a segment on them on TechTV, and there's still a loyal following, they have a big annual rally. As I recall, they were quite slow, being geared very low, and have big, fat "implement" tires that can float over mud and snow. Used to be they would float!

I have read about those,The wheels are hollow, allowing you to carry extra fuel/water. With the two wheel drive, and low gearing, I dont think there are too many places a Rokon can't take you.

Umm Santa? If you are reading this I could use a Rokon.

Thanks for the input.

I have been thinking about taking the leap and buying one but trying to get different views first. New ones are kinda pricey when compared to a four wheeler.

I didn't realize they still made these!

My dad had one when I was younger, just to fix up and sell for a profit, but he let me ride whenever I wanted.

First off, it's pretty slow. I don't know how important that is in hardcore off-roading though. It is reasonably comfortable, but when you are at higher speeds (not fast) it is pretty bumpy since it has no suspension. It doesn't seem like it would carry stuff as well a four-wheeler, since you'd have to drag most game you might be hauling out from the woods.

I only have limited experience with the Rokon, but I hope it helps.

I owned one about twenty-five years ago. Goes anywhere, and I mean anywhere. But, it is slow in comparison to four-wheelers or true off-road motorcycles. Pretty bulletproof, but a little pricey. A great hunting off-roader, IMO.
