4130 vs 9300

Assuming you had the funds to buy either one, what would you get?

As much of a Rolex (especially sub) fan as I am, I am not a Daytona fan. I find the omega easier to read for its I tended purpose. If I wanted a timer, the omega is absolutely the way I’d go. In fact, I do want one one day. Eventually.

The PO won out for me as well. Despite owning the previous 3 eye co-axial chronograph and having issues with it even after factory service, it seems like the 9300 movement is the perfected in-house chronograph.

The case diameter and thickness are very close to my Deepsea and that was a huge factor.

This is going to replace the SMW chronograph that I gifted to my apprentice.

I chose the Daytona, but basically I am and have always been a Rolex guy first and foremost.

Doesn't mean I don't appreciate the Speedy as well.

I like them both, for different reasons...

But if I could only chose one, It'd have to be the Daytona. Mainly because I grew up around sportscar racing, and it's the trophy given to class winners at the Daytona 24 Hours.

Have to admit though, I like the looks of the Omega better.

Hahaaaa! Can't put a compass and cuff key in a steel bracelet ;)

I guess that’s true. Need plays the biggest role. And I shouldn’t need one so often I need it on my wrist. Lol! Although I do keep one in my get home bag. And if I need a cuff key, well, the day has gone seriously sideways lol!

Nice.

I have had my Seamaster for almost 20 years and prefer it to the 3 Rolexes I have owned. Cheaper to service, seem to keep better time just prior to needing service and are much cheaper.

I love the Daytona though (I owned a Day/Date, Submariner and an old bubble back). I remember that they were impossible to get in the late 90’s and were selling for 1.5-2x new retail on the used market all the time. Amazing watch.

Assuming both these watches are automatics; of these two I likenthe Rolex better. I like that is a 3 eye chronograph. Watch bands can always be changed and so I don’t really count that but as this would be my most expensive watch I wear virtually everywhere I would likely want a steel band. Depends on the clip type on the band, some steel band clips seem more durable than others.

I had the chance to get a Rolex but fell in love with the Montblanc Timewalker at the jewlery store. I liked its style far more than a rolex. Half ceramic half steel band.

I’ve worn it virtually every day since I got it. Put my Movado into retirement.

Ps: lots of nice watches in this thread guys

not really a chronograph fan as ive let my speedy reduced go some time back, but if i was to get a chrono between the two options up there, the daytona. most omegas tend to have an unnecessary bulk to them. aesthetically, the daytona would fit better as well cause im sure the PO is probably >41mm.

45mm... But my only other watch is a Rolex Deepsea so I'm accustomed to bulk.

Rolex. My reasoning is it looked good 30 years ago and it will still look great in the future. Daytonas also hold their value really well.
