I've been searching the net for reviews of the 16600 Sea Dweller. I'm sure there are some watch junkies here that can answer my questions. I have a Z series SD. From what I've searched, that puts it from 08.

Does this watch have the parachrome hairspring?

What are the bezel inserts made of. I know the new Deepsea is a ceramic.

Does this watch have any resistance to magnetic exposure?

Would wearing it while welding (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) cause enogh magnetic exposure to harm it?

Thanks in advance.

If I got into those forums, my knife addiction would suffer

Your watch has the 3135 movement with a Nivarox hairspring. The parachrome hairspring is on the 3136, 3156 and 3186 movements. The general thought is that while the new hairspring may be a slight improvement it's mostly marketing hype and they only reason the change was made was because the hairspring was outsourced from ETA.

Anodized aluminum.

Does this watch have any resistance to magnetic exposure?

Any stainless cased watch has some but I believe the only Rolex that's rated "anti-magnetic" is the Milgauss.

Would wearing it while welding (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) cause enogh magnetic exposure to harm it?.

I'd more concerned about it being messed up from slag than the magnetic exposure. Personally I wouldn't regularly wear it while welding for that reason; having said that I know of a Rolex fan who wears an older DateJust as his work watch and welds frequently.

Thanks man, that's what I needed. I rarely weld and wear full leather when I do, but I wear my watch sooo much that I forget I'm wearing it. That may sound strange but I never take it off.

So what's the backstory? Yamahaki is/was half the fun in reading the Dive Watch forum at WUS. Of course I was a mere lurker.
To be honest I don't know the full story. A lot of what happened I think was on the moderator's board. Probably just a big disagreement on what should be allowed on WUS. If you thought it was fun reading his stuff on the DWF come check out his site ;).

I poked around a little last night but will give it a real test drive later.

Unfortunately I found the "For Sale" board pretty fast. Nice Prodive there...

Thanks for the link.
