rolled liner

Can anyone tell me how to stitch that rolled part at the mouth without the stitches showing? I used a glovers needle and very fine thread but the stitching holes still showed when I rolled it over. I used thin ostrich leg leather to match the inlay on the sheath and it turned out okay but not as nice as I'd like to eventually be doing.
