I was on the way home from running my morning business errands today. It is 86F and sunny. There are two car washes just a couple blocks up from my street. On one side there is a car wash for a cheer leaders squad. Mostly a bit chunky and 14 to 17 years old, mixed boys and girls. On the other corner there is a roller derby team. Drop dead hot babes in halter tops and derby short-shorts with hair tied back. They range from about 19 to 25. There are about four holding the signs and the rest are soaked to the skin and washing cars.

Guess which corner is packed with cars.

I had a student (college) that was into Roller Derby. She was TOUGH!

One day she came into class a little late. I knew she had late night derby matches and forgave the tardiness...no skin off my back. Anyway, got to talking to her...and her speech was a little less lucid than normal...and she had that "look" like she was going to pass out.

Started asking her questions....turns out she got in a wreck on the way to school and got wrapped around a pole. No, not the car....HER!

She had a Massive bruise on her leg - about 13 inches long, and one nearly as large across her belly. (she was happy to show us)

Needless to say, we got her to the hospital...

She absolutely refused, of course, insisting she was OK.

They took good care of her and she was gone for about a week...but I still can't believe that she would not only walk away from a wreck that could have been fatal (totalled the car) but would still come to class!

I've only met one other person as tough...

my wife! :o

Page,
I bet half of the chaps on this forum wouldn't know the Bay City Bombers from the Bay City Rollers.

I'm guessing Bay City Bombers is a roller derby team. Bay City Rollers was a band that had at least one hit with Saturday Night (I think thats the title).

Oh yeah, I remember the Bombers. Raised my girls in the Bay Area. Roller Derby WAS Roller Derby till they got rid of the banked tracks. Remember the big redhead? Can't remember her name but she was tough.
