Rolling Lock Military?

I seem to remember reading about plans for a rolling lock Military. I think it was supposed to be out in mid 2000. Does anybody know anything about this? Did Spyderco abandon this idea? I guess what I'm asking is if I should put off getting a regular one, in favor of a new one with a better lock.
 
The negotiations between Spyderco and REKAT fell through. That is why many new models will have the compression lock.
 
So, will there be a new Military with a compression lock? And if yes, when would it come out?
 
I think Spyderco is researching the possibility of introducing a Military with a compression lock. Am I wrong with this Sal? Please don't hesitate to correct me if so!

If anything is being done to review the Military, it's the researching of the Military Jr. I figure it will also be a linerlock unless, of course, Sal says otherwise.

Rolling lock Military is out. Compression lock is more likely. We'll move slowly, but I'm sure you'll see more Compression locks on more models as time goes on.

Thanks a lot for the replies. Sal, is it possible to give us a time frame for a compression lock Military, no matter how vague or tentative?
 
Margelatu - No time plans at this time. We're still having difficulty making enough Military's with the linerlock to meet demand.

Our Military model with the linerlock is a good knife. It has proven to be very reliable. If we were to change over to a compression lock, it would not be before late next year.

Well now, what ever happened to the "chopped down" version of the Military? That' s right, the projected smaller but not necessarily shrunken down version with the compression lock!! I hope this gets to see distribution first.

I just hope I'm fortunate enough to win the Military on Oct. 31st! I used to have one, but gave it to my best friend. He loves it, and I really need to replace it. My Starmate is my daily carry knife.
