hi - wed got my new REKAT SIFU special edition w/smooth handles and black blade, #24/75 - really like it, very well made knife, solid lock up, and makes my BM AFCK look anemic LOL - but anyway a question: how does the rolling lock work? is it pretty solid (mine feel solid....)? i presume when ya flick it open ya have to press forward on the button, quickly releasing lest it bounce back and cut the pi$$ outta ya?? just would like some general info on it, havent read alot about REKAT, saw a SIFU at the gunshow a few wks back, and have had to have 1 since and broke down and got 1 as the spec edition has the smooth handles i prefer so i figured if i wanted the smooth handles i better go ahead and get it - anyway all info appreciated

The Rolling lock was, I think, the first "next generation lock." It's stronger than a liner lock, and comparable to an axis lock or the compression lock (though I think maybe not quite as strong). There's plenty of reviews of it here and in other forums; do a search for pictures of how it works etc. I would not fool around with trying to get my fingers out of the way of a bouncing knife blade; try adjusting your grip so you're holding the knife "sideways" in your hand, gripping it with the first joints of your fingers, so that they're out of the way of the blade as it opens, just in case it does bounce back. In fact, the blade is heavy enough you shouldn't have to pull back the lock button to get it to swing open. Just my .02

Mike Sastre gave me a great tip for inertia opening on a Sifu, even without depressing the lock button. Pinch the knife just below the pivot area between thumb and fingers as you draw from the sheath. Then using an snapping "c" type motion you "present" the blade forward and then pull it back. If I've not confused you the Sifu should now be open with the blade facing forward and vertical ready for....
