I've noticed on my Pioneer II that the side lock release has moved forward toward the blade in the locked position..It has moved quite a bit since it was new. I understand that this may be normal but will it continue untill the button reaches the end of the cutout? If it reaches the end will the lock up become loose?I've looked at new ones and the side release buttons all seem to sit about 2/3 of the way towards the blade end and mine right now has about 1/32in or less between the button and end of the cutout. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Wear is relevant to the use of the knife. We know that the lock will cycle in excess of 25,000 cycles with no apparent failure or slop. In perspective that’s opening and closing the knife 10 times a day every day for seven years. Then there are those people who open and close a knife for the sake of doing it. They can do 25,000 cycles in three months.
Which is why automobile manufactures have a time and use warranty 5 years or 50,000 miles (someone want to invent a cheap cycle meter for knives)
I would have to look at you knife to tell you anything. Also do you snap it open? that will increase wear on any knife. I hope this answers some of your questions

Thanks,I don't snap the knife normally, but it has been snapped open before. It is opened at a normal speed and I must admit that I do open and close them just for fun,but not constantly..I just noticed the side lock had moved and got a little concerned.I like the figures that you gave. That gives me a good idea of what to expect.I'm not to the point to where I need to send it in but if it gets worse I will have you guys take a look.Thanks.
