Anybody else here roll your own? Started about a year and a half ago to save some bucks and maybe cut back on the amount smoked... 1 out of 2 aint bad :D

Anyways, I'm using gambler tubes with Kentucky Select tobacco. Used to roll with People's True Taste natural but thats gotten scarce. I've tried a bunch but those two seem to be my fav's. What does everybody else go for?

That's funny you mention that since I was going to make a thread asking about this as a somewhat better alternative than cigarettes.

I definately am I fan of it. For one, it helps get away from the corprate tobacco companies as many of the good bulk bags are smaller guys. Then there is the cost savings and the ability to roll them to your taste. The down side is that its not so great to only roll up, say, 4 cigs for the day then end up going out after work and running out. But hey, I guess is it *that* horrible to smoke a few less than you otherwise would?

I rolled my own for near two years , then I quit period.

Started up again but got lazy , so now I just buy them. :D

my dad swore they were better for ya than the factory rolled ones as they (the factory rolled ones) have more additives, YMMV though.

a bud used to roll his own cigs, he was from england FWIW, he was driving in austin TX one day smoking one of his cigs and the cops pulled him over, thought it was a "joint" lol, again, YMMV lol...........

I like to take a Zig-Zag paper, wrap it around a large drinking straw, pack the straw full of good pipe tobacco (don't pack it too tight or it will be hard to smoke) using a small wooden stick as a ram rod, then use the stick to force the tobacco out of the straw and into the rolling paper as you slowly slide the paper off of the straw. I've never used a rolling machine, so this is the quickest way I've found to roll my own little cigars. It's cheap and you can make cigars in any flavor of pipe tobacco you like.

That sounds horribly time consuming campared to simply rolling it in the zigzag by hand. Not a bad way to improvise a tube packer, if one had to. But tubes are definately the way to go for speed and to have a filter. Not to mention they are cheaper (200 for $2)

My friend rolls his own and he uses this machines. it works pretty well.

Rolled my own for a while- got into it when I was working in a smoke shop- my favorite was (and is) Three Castles & when I was living in Germany, there were more choices of tobacco- tried a bunch. Good thing to save money when you're broke & need a nicotine fix. Also helped me smoke less- every time you want a smoke, you have to make it yourself. That curve also flattens as one becomes faster/more proficient...

I guess I just don't understand. Why not just stuff it in a pipe and puff away? No fuss, no muss.:D

Used to; Golden Virginia in a Blue Rizla or OCB Premium paper. The problem is I'd always find myself somewhere windy when I wanted a smoke, so just started to buy pre-rolled.
