So I have all you to blame.... First I stumbled on here and after seeing the knives and hearing you guys talk about them, I ordered myself a 10, then a 16 and now there's an 11 on the way.
In the mean time I start thinking about sheaths as the supplied web one, while serviceable, just doesn't do it for me. ( I can't seem to keep my weapons in man made fabrics either)
So I walked into the local Tandy Leather store on Monday afternoon never having made anything like this in my life to having THIS finished this afternoon:
Granted it's a little rough... it is the very first thing I've ever made from leather (I didn't start out like they suggest by lacing a wallet kit together).
I wanted the sheath to follow the shape of the blade but the drop point didn't quite show the curve as much as I'd like. I think I'll make it a little more prominent when I try again.
Here's the back:
It's amazing to look at it considering that Monday afternoon all I had was just a big hunk of raw leather and a few tools and an idea.
There are plenty of goofs in it but every one taught a lesson. In fact it started out to have a thumb snap around the handle of the knife but I goofed up tracing the pattern on the wrong side of the hide so I made this to keep from wasting so much material.
I'll make another and one for the 10 and I've already got a design in mind for a rough out in-pocket sheath for the 11 when it shows up.
Thanks to everyone here for the inspiration.
