Roman Legionaries Equipment

It is always interesting to find anything metal in such a site as they were usually picked over quite thoroughly after a battle, massacre, what have you. To have built over such a site kind of looks like life was suspended at the moment. Weapons, armour and personal items that were of more or less daily use.

It's in the UK, I'm surprised the archaeologists weren't arrested upon digging it up. Being that there are weapons in there and all that.
 
Very neat find. These kinds of things drive me crazy though. You end up asking "Why?" Why were these things left? If it was fear of oncoming Rebels or Pictish / Scoti why would the attackers not have made off with the loot? Like the Staffordshire hoard we will probably never know darnit!
