Ron, as you probably know by now, I have the team leader reserved for me. I am so happy about this because I have been wanting an older SOG to put back for my boys. My question to you is, there was a picture of a knife that I saw and was talked about
last year on SOG forums, I think it had black g 10 or similar, I think it was a proto or something SOG was thinking about and then it vanished. I have worried over this knife for a year, please help me out. I think it was a plain blade drop point folder, do you know ? Thanks.:D

Are you thinking of the "new" Team Leader? It is a smaller SAT knife that may or may not seeing production, as far as I know...

Not sure Bobby B., I saw it sometime after fall of 2002, maybe early 2003, there was a pic of it and I can't remember where I saw it.:(
I know I saw a knife that had a thinner profile, blade open, and it looked like a drop point/black handles, but I don't know the name to search for. I was thinking it was something like what you said but I would have to see a pic. Best I can remember, something was said about not being produced.

Also it seemed like the handles had no bolsters.

You were right Bobby B, it was the team leader proto.
Oh well, guess it is not going to be produced or maybe ?, thanks for the help.:(

Maybe we will hear something in the future.:p

The Team Leader is a tactical folder about the size of the Vision that has both SAT and Arc-Lock technology. Spencer has been thinking about producing it for several years, but it never really has got taken from the "back burner" to the "front burner."

What is confusing is that the Team Leader is also a rare SOG knife (the "S3"...made in production between the S2 Trident and the S4 Tomcat). It looks like a prehistoric Tomcat with micarta scales. This is one "muthu" of a knife! I think Rob has a picture of his open next to his Trident. They're about the same size!!!

Ron, Thanks for the info., I knew I had seen the picture of that knife (Team leader proto) in the past but could not remember where.
I like the looks of that knife and especially the blade better than some others I have seen. I should be getting to hold the "original" team leader soon, it will be on it's way in a week or so from "upper" U.S.:D .
I would like to know if you could give me an approximate date when that knife came out, and what it was originally designed for, and about how many have you seen or heard of since you started in this business. I have done a few searches but have only heard of about 3, and they are owned by people on these forums I think.
Thanks for your help Ron.

Robbie,
Thanks for starting this thread about the Team Leader model.Sometime last year, I started a thread asking when or if the SAT and arc-lock model would be put into production. It is nice to know the model is still on the back burner, and might be produced at some time in the future.
I do recall the picture of the old Team Leader model and it did appear to be one awesome folder.

Hey guys, Yes, I remembered a picture I had seen about a year ago, way before I joined the forums, I was just lurking then. I thought it was a very nice looking knife, but kind of forgot about it until last week. I did several searches on it and could not find anything on it until the other day. It is a beauty, and maybe it will work out sometime. In my opinion, it would not even have to be assisted opening to be of real value to me. Just the look of the knife, with an arc lock would be good enough for me. We will see what happens.
