This is currently the only knife by Ron Best in my collection. I started to look for one after he began to concentrate on making these integrals a few years ago. Also, about that time, I read here on the forums
that he had won an award, (Cronk?), at a recent Blade Show, so I knew I wasn't alone. I was especially
drawn to this particular one when I saw it because it is just a bit "tamer" than some of his work.. (smoother lines..)

The knife came with a very cool black stingray sheath too. Jere Davidson has done most of the engraving on Ron's knives, at least the ones that I have seen. A plus for me because I really admire his work as well. This is one of those knives that seems to get a nice reaction from folks everytime I show it.. (The pearl in natural sunlight has very deep colors.) I hope you guys enjoyed seeing it too.. Best Regards, Rich

Ron Best is so at the top of the heap. He's in my top 10 favourite knife artists of all time. He's like Cronk a bit design wise, but his sh+t is so dialled from an fnf standpoint. Thanks for spreading the Best love:D.

Incredible Score!!

I stood by his table at Blade for a long Time Staring at his incredible work!! awesome Talent!!

great piece by RB Rich. RB won the last 2 Cronk awards of which there are no more. He always has lots of nice work at shows he attends. He likely will be at Blade and at Guild this year.

Thanks Guys... Murray, I know you recently added one of his fighters to your stash too.. By all means, post it.. Anyone who would like to do the same, please do.. I would especially like to see again, and know who owns the most recent dagger with Mammoth Ivory that Daniel from BladeGallery sold.. It was just pure "Cobra Bad"... Best, Rich

Ron Best has made a lot of knives that I like and a lot of knives that I don't. This is one that I like a great deal.

I think his work is really super clean, hot, spectacular - very, very artful.

I have admired Ron's Integral designs for some years now
and will be featuring two of them, a matching pair, in my
next book "Knife Art".

All the best,

I am definitely a fan. I own the one on my avatar. It is much bigger than it seems to be! Bladegalley used to be the only place to find his job, but you can find some at Knifepurveyor and Knifeart now.

What are you saying, David ? Your next book ? Did you already tell anything about that ?

Beautiful piece and some gorgeous pearl - congrats on a fine addition. I've handled Murray's piece and was very impressed with the workmanship.

Hi Rich,

You sit back quietly examining the top-of-the-line makers and then--like THAT--there you go. :p

I'm not surprised at your pleasure. Yes, Ron is an acquired taste, but that's true of so many masters.

Excellent!

Coop (Who always admires Rich's photography as well.)

I like it! From a maker's perspective I look at other knives mainly to get ideas and very rarely see something I want to try. I really like how the spine of this blade is actually above the handle. Nice score!

Hello Patrick,

I did mention the fact somewhere... It will be "Knife Art", a stand-alone
volume on the various aspects of the amazing world of Modern Custom
Knives. It will have quite a few original fully illustrated articles on this art
form and on some of the major custom knifemakers and will display
highlights from several amazing world class custom knife collections.

I hope to introduce it at next year's BLADE Show.

While working on "Knife Art" I am also finishing an updated English edition
of a fully illustrated book (over 600 illustrations), "The Art of the Handgun".

This book I mentioned recently on another thread:

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
