Ron passed away this morning. He has left us with a fine collection of his work. I knew him personally and had tremendous respect for him and his abilities.

He was well liked and appreciated throughout the knife community.

We will miss you Ronnie!

Ron was one of the first knifemakers that I met and purchased from, back in 1986.

I have always told people that were new to knife collecting that Ron's work was a must have. You might not get rich on owning it, but you were NOT going to lose money, AND you would have a very, very fine knife that would please you, pretty much forever.

I spoke with Ron, maybe 2 years when he retired, and he was deeply saddened by his physical condition. I paid my respects, and did not call again, it seemed to painful for him to talk to knife people.

I hope Ron Gaston is resting in a better place.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I never met him, but I've watched his work for years... The community has sadly lost another great one.

I wish his family peace...

Sorry to hear this, Ron was one of the earliest makers I collected. I always enjoyed seeing him at the NY Shows and he will be missed by all that knew him.

RIP

Win

with a smile for all.Rest in Peace,my friend, you will not be forgotten.

A special thanks to Russel Easler who travelled with and helped Ron

through difficult times.

Very sad news for the knife community. He was one of the makers I have always strived to be like. I love his work, I wish I could have met him.

I met him years ago at the Guild show here in Orlando and was immeadiately impressed with him and his work.I was just starting and he was very helpfull. One thing I was alway's amazed by was the number of knives he would bring to a show, must have been 30 or 40 knives, maybe more.RIP. Dave:(

Always liked the man's work. He was a talented maker, and I hate to see him go. We've been loosing way too many lately. I'm feeling a little older, and a little sadder. Mike

Ron's clean look, style and material choice was one of the first things that drew me into custom knives.

Ron's knives were all over the knife mags back in the 80s and 90s. He was a knife making machine with an eye for good design. R.I.P. Ron

Some really nice comments here...keep them coming! I hope it brings some peace to know that Ronnie was able to stay at his beautiful home and garden until only very recently. His passing was fast and without struggle.

Thanks for taking the time to mention Russel. No doubt, he has been a true friend to Ronnie.

Russell & Paula Easler were very close to Ron. They took very good care of Ron in his final years. They are good people. Ron was very lucky to have friends like the Easlers.

RIP Mr. Gaston. My condolences for his family.

I bought my 3rd custom knife from Ron Gaston in the early to mid 90s (can't actually remember which year) at the knife show in Pasadena.

To this day I really, really like that knife. I can't imagine ever selling it. In fact, I like his work so much that I bought two more within the last year. There is just a simple elegance to his blades (not to mention a beautiful satin finish).

Rest in Peace Mr. Gaston. Your contributions to this craft will be missed.

Just going to send this back up one more time. I know some people out there still may want to know about Ron's passing.

Sorry Ron has passed on. I used to buy knives from him at the ORIGINAL
NYCKS and bought because his work was well done and reasonable even back then.
He will be missed.
