Ron Lake folder

4-6 grand range ... pragon in NYC had two for 7000
though i have seen a few older ones go for less

heard a coupla rumors that Ron Lake isnt making interframes any more his production is very very very limited.

Makes the AG Russell knife seem more reasonable, I guess.

Still, $300+ for a Chinese-made knife....I'd have to have it in hand and look it over, I guess.

Im pretty sure the last time I saw a plain Lake stag interframe talilock for sale by a dealer, and it was only a few months ago, it was just under $3,000. I think it was Nordic. Guild or Hoffman, can't recall which, had a gorgeous pair of heavily, VERY nicely engraved Lake pearl interframes that were $15,000, but, that's for both! :)

Thank you all for your help! :)
Unless I win the lottery I won't buy this knife, but it was a nice experience playing with it. The workmanship is outstanding, when it locks open you can't see any gap between the blade and the spine. In general it looks clean, simple and perfect, if you see what I mean.

Talk to Ron last week and his orderbook is full for the next EIGHT YEARS !!!But he still makes folders.

I bought one from A. G. Russell in 1972 for less than a hundred dollars.

Bob Dozier

I was at the first Guild show that Ron attended ( I think in 1970 ) which was my frist guild show also. They took in 27 new members which included Ron And myself. He had this hugh brass inaframe with cocobolo inserts that Bob Loveless bought for $100. Bob also bought a $20 knife from me. That was the good old days when knifemaking was just begining to be what it is today.

Back in the 70s $20 was lot of money to me.... the sad part is: it still is a lot of money to me!!! :(

Ron's folder are fantastic. I have also examined one of the Chinese made Lake designs, the one with the stag inlay, nd it was a real real well made knife. Not as well made as a $4000 original but better made than a lot customs I have seen. I would say it is certainly worth $300.

I was looking for a Lake for weeks when I was proposed Ron's very first knife, which is in fact a 15' bowie. I must say I did hesitate a lot before taking it and I certainly don't regret because this bowie is absolutly beautifull and in perfect shape ( 1965 ! ).

I can't resist to handle it almost every day.
