i have heard a "rumor" that the night vision is being discontinued.
is this true?
are any others being discontinued?
if this is true..., WHY?
what is the difference in the lock on the vision series and benchmade, cold steel, etc locks?

The Night Vision! :D This is something I can talk about with intimate, first-hand knowledge!
  • Night Vision discontinued? Yes it is. :(
  • Discontinued list: Here is a list of items discontinued in 2002. SOG discontinues product every year to make room for the new models. They are selected mostly because of low sales volume.
  • ArcLock: I'm not an engineer, but there are differences that set this lock off as different. One of note is that ours works on a "wedge" principle. Sorry that I can't be of more help on this one. I'll leave this level of technical stuff up to others.
The Night Vision is my absolute favorite SOG knife. I carried it daily for 2.5 years until I got my TiNi Aluminum Flash II. I'm not completely sold that this will be a permanent switch. I miss my Night Vision!

i am amazed the night vision was a "slow seller"!
IMO, it is the BEST folder SOG makes. on paper(screen), it doesn't look as good as it does "in-person". it is my favorite line of SOG knives. i will be sure to hang on to my night vision(i have 2 with straight blades). i plan to carry one and keep the other in the safe for colector value a few years down the line. the NV's i have are not marked on the handles with the SOG name. are the serrated NV's marked(similar to the x-ray's)?
