Hey guys! I am finally working to update my simple forge, and i was looking for a burner with a little more power. I have heard nothing but good things about the Ron Reil burner, but I am unable to find anything more than anecdotal information about how to make it! I have tried googleing everything and all i can come up with are other people asking how its made and Ron's website which only has simple diagrams of its construction. I hate to ask questions with simple answers, but does anyone know where I could look to find information on making it? thanks guys.

I already scoured through his pages. I may be an idiot, but does he have real plans on the page? I thought i looked through every single link

Another good option is the burners designed my Michael Porter. He's got a book on how to build them, available via Amazon. I built a couple, with mostly just parts from the hardware store.

The sidearm burner is a better design, I believe it's talked about by RR but you can find out all about it at Larry Zoeller's site. I've built several of both types, to me the only benefit of a straight up Reil style burner is that it's easier to throw together from whatever you have laying around + whatever your woefully under-inventoried local Ace Hardware might have...

^^^ just go to www.zoellerforge.com and I'd suggest just buying his "side arm burner" that is pre-drilled and tapped and ready to pretty much "plug-n-play". There is a lot of great info on that site that is simple to understand, but I still suggest buying his other than sourcing your own parts, plus you'll want to have a flared stainless steel burner which you pretty much have to order anyway.. It saves a lot of guessing and checking as opposed to making one which really doesn't seem save all that much money or time anyway, unless you make them all the time and are really good at it and buy supplies in bulk IMHO.

ETA: I just checked the prices on his site which seemed to have gone up since I last checked? The side arm burner is $52.50 + shipping

For "me" it is worth the cost to pay that, because I made one before and couldn't find the correct sizes for a few of the main parts no matter what hardware or home improvement store I went to.

They sell the (pretty much) exact same burner kit at hightemptools.com which is $45, (which I purchased a while back) but it doesn't come pre drilled or tapped, which was a pain (for me), plus they ran out of the correct size on one of the small pipe nipples and sent a different size that didn't fit snugly, which for me kinda defeated the purpose of buying it in the first place.. At least they sent an email explaining how I could go about making it work anyway

This is just my experience, and I'm sure YMMV :)
