Here is a Ron Best collaboration, I engraved a few months ago. Most everything I do is on interframe folders, but this was a nice change up. Being an integral, the knife had to be engraved prior to the heat treat. So when the knife came into my studio, it had no handle material in it that I had to be cautious of, it is a fixed blade so I did not have to worry about the blade action, or any of the other little quirks that go along with engraving folders. Just engrave the thing and send it back. Ron did a great job of preserving the integrity of the engraving through the heat treat and finish process. His work is excellent all the way through. Thanks for taking a look. Brian

that is truly some beautiful work:thumbup:
Really super stunning and it sets off the knife perfectly in my opinion.
The knife itself is also amazing. Ron Best is a really gifted designer and seems to have the skills nailed as well.

Thanks a lot for posting these pictures, Brian:)

WOW! That is gorgeous work, all the way around! I love persians and I love engraving. I got excited by the title of this thread, and the pictures certainly did not dissappoint! I particularly like your spine treatment.

I'm wondering about the forefinger area just before the guard, it almost looks sharp?

Hi Brian,

That's VERY elegant work  and well-displayed. Ron's work is becoming more and more prevalent. I have just handled three of his pieces with three inbound.

Pay attention.... :)

A fantastically well made knife that is also beautiful, but just not my cup of tea. I can certainly see what others like about this maker's work.

Thanks for looking it over. The finger notch does have a significant taper, but comes down to roughly a 3/16" thickness. The other knife pictured, engraved by Jere Davidson, was done prior to this one. When I was asked to engrave this piece, I was sent that same photo as a guideline of what coverage areas the customer was wanting, which I stuck to with the exception that I decided to engrave on the top side of the blade. Thanks for the comments. Brian

Brian,

The most pleasing aspect to me is the long, flowing nature of your engraving on this piece. It seems to add a special note of grace to the knife.

Brian, I follow your post's on the various engraving forums and you are really showing some lovely work the last year or so.. The scroll work here is nicely laid out and looks elegant.. It was put to good use to enhance this Ron Best piece.. Thanks for showing us this fine looking knife.. Best, Rich
