Ronin in a pocket?

Title pretty much says it all... I was considering trying a Ronin in my rfp. I stow a Perrin bowie in there sometimes but it's just a tad awkward. The Ronin's a bit shorter and would probably not print too badly due to its handle shape.

I did a search and saw some excellent belt rigs, but nothing that looked like much of a pocket rig.

I'm thinking the factory sheath may actually provide the answer here because I think it would probably keep the knife oriented in the pocket simply because it's so wide. Another perk is that the factory sheath has a nice, neutral square shape. A Ripp Cord may provide the answer if I desire fast deployment.

Or is there a good aftermarket pocket rig I just don't know about? I know most people don't carry a Ronin this way, but someone might know.

Yes, the factory sheath will work well for pocket carry. With practice, the thumb can be used to flick the sheath away while the fingers hold the knife handle. I have used the Ronin and other kydex-sheathed knives for "casual" short-term pocket carry. Much depends on the size and shape of the pocket. The pocket must be narrow enough not to allow the rig to fall over and become wedged in a horizontal position, or else wide enough that the rig cannot become wedged in such a way. Just as with carrying pocket pistols, it is best if NOTHING else shares the pocket with the sheathed knife, IMHO.

Hooray! I feel vindicated.

Precisely what I had in mind.

I couldn't agree more. For my purposes I think it sounds like what I want to try will work very well.
