Sal, Why not just take the Ronin and cut a small choil into the top of the knife. That would make the Ronin a great pakal knife. One could then use it edge in or edge out in a forward or reverse grip. There is a custom Ronin like this on Self-Defense Forums and it looks great!

I'd think if anything the choil would make it feel a little less "grippy" in Pikal... try holding a Spyderco Perrin Bowie in Pikal. It works but the finger choil makes you feel like you don't quite have purchase on the handle even though you do. If anything a coffin shaped handle is best (assuming we're not talking about a knife made specifically for Pikal).
