When I recently got my new Ronin in the mail, I noticed that the spine near the tip (the non-thumb grooved area) was concave, you know, like a clip point/bowie tip. I've already "fixed" it by grinding it straight to the tip like I wanted it, but this apparent flaw struck me as odd and un-Spyderlike. (Is Spyderlike a word?...It is now!) :p

Hi Krakoa.

we did have a few like that. The blade edge should be a straight line. The first sharpening should clean it up. Especially if sharpened on a flat stone.

Wow, thanks for the response, Mr. Glesser! I had to take it to a grinder because it was not quite straight on the spine of the blade, but it was no big deal. I just mentioned it because I thought it was strange ( it was a pretty obvious concave grind-job on the spine), and I was a bit worried about possibly having bought a knockoff! :( Anyway, thanks for putting me at ease.

On mine, the edge was slightly concave, like a hawkbill.

I can't imagine why the spine would be curved... Very odd...
