Ronin Scuff Question

Just got my Ronin today. Beautiful knife. Well designed. Feels great in my hand.

I did a search, but could not find the answer to this question. Is it normal for the handle to come scuffed (right out of the box) on one side, where the handle inserts into the sheath? I figure it is a by-product of its ability to maintain its holding power. If it is not typical, I can contact the dealer (TAD Gear). But I do not prefer the inspection by mail process unless it is absolutely necessary. From what I am reading, Spyderco is a real stand-up company.

Thanks.

I've had my Ronin for only a few weeks.

There were no scuff marks when delivered. There is some slight 'polishing' emerging where the micarta scales lock into the sheath - which I think is unavoidable.

If you're unhappy, I'm sure Spyderco will treat you well. I think Spyderco would prefer you return it via the dealer you purchased from.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.

"Polishing" may be a more apt description. I am sure I will do worse to it.

Hi...

If you are talking about scuff marks from the kydex,,then it is only cosmetic,, and may be able to be rubbed off.. It won't damage the handle material at all.. It shouldn't also effect the fit of the knife, unless is scraping off exessive amounts... Try adjusting the tension with the adjustment screw..

you also don't want the knife to fall out easily...

Other than that I would say it's quite normal..

Scuffing or polishing from kydex is normal. If you want the knife as an unblemished collectible, see if the factory will send you one that has never been inside a sheath. Some manufacturers will accomodate this. Kydex sheaths and the knives that come with them are, IMHO, like Craftsman brand tools and plastic toolboxes, meant to be used and scuffed and scratched.
