Need some help folks. I am looking for an easy to conceal EDC and would like your take on the pros and cons of these two blades. Due to Spyderco's CS I am leaning more in favor of the Ronin but the short blade turns me off. Please, I want to hear your opinions.

How about a 3rd choice; The Benchmade 145 Nimravus Cub? I had a CQB-2, and it is an excllent knife, but the handle is pretty short, and the blade of the Ronin is too short for what I like.

I visited the Camillus/CUDA site, but found no reference a 'QCB2 Jr' model. Those QCB models I did see appeared too long for neck-carry. Any neck-carry knife more than 8" OAL is likely to 'print' noticably where the butt of the handle meets your diaphragm area (especially if you're pot-bellied, like me).

I suggest you visit this site: http://www.snodyknives.com
Snody understands neck knives.

Snody collaborated with Spyderco in the design of the Spyderco Ronin, and is also collaborating with Benchmade with the 'Benchmade Fixed Resistor'.

The Fixed Resistor has a blade design that appears more suitable for more robust EDC tasks than the Ronin, with excellent handle design and sheath suitable for either neck- or belt-carry.

The Fixed Resistor will probably be my next knife purchase.

I agree, the Nimravus series are great knives I own the H20 but did not like the sheaths used if I go with the 145 I would have to spend more money on a custom sheath to satisfy my picky needs.

CQB-2

I was thinking of IWB for carrying, the whole idea of me flashing an attacker to reach my knife is sort of disturbing. :p

for the attacker of course :barf:

The CQB-2 is definitely only for people with small hands. The grip is short and it tapers to almost nothing.Nothing for my size 9 hand to hold on to.

Think about what blade length you want and then go find a knife that suits it. But you lose easy to conceal if you go too long. And where you are going to conceal it will have an impact on your choice. If it's not on the neck, you can go for a heavier blade, for example.

Got both these knives. CQB2 is lighter, slimmer, and cheaper but that's about it. The Ronin really is a terrific knife, a fierce cutter, good steel (VG10) and I would rate it a better design overall for hideout or neck knife use. The only thing against is you could probably buy 3 CQB2s for the price of one.
