So I already posted this on the swamp rat forums but as a 16 year old buying a swamp rat is a big investment and I already have a rodent solution so I know it's worth the money. So here I am looking for some advice from some veteran rats. I'm looking for a tool for wood processing. I have narrowed it down to the rodent 9, the KDSH, and the rattlehawk. I really want to make the right descision. I feel like one of the hawks would be better at chopping but the rodent 9 seem more versatile so if you guys would share some of your advice I would a appreciate it.

Thanks

P.s. As always pics are a plus.

Second the Rodent 9. So much more versatile.

Chopping and splitting I use my Rat Mastiff (close cousin to the R9) more often than any of my hatchets or hawks.

Rattlehawk is a bit of an 'over the top' thing for wood processing (even literally :D with the sharp top of the hawk), in fact there were a few complains from people attempting to do just that and stabbing themselves with wit the spike or beard.
KDSH is more of a working tool, but from the user reports a bit too light to be dedicated to processing wood.
So, from the models you mentioned R9 would be the best choice.

However, if you want more than just baton through logs, for chopping and delimbing and such the Scrap Yard 9-11 or 11-11 might be a better choice. Both of them are blade heavy, where R9 is somewhat neutral, which aids in chopping an hacking. The Resiprene-C handle is very good at absorbing shock and vibrations. And they are priced below Swamp's corresponding models (ok, there is no 11' Rat...)

An R11 wouldn't be a bad idea at all. :D

One question about the scrapyards. Is there any decrease in strength because it's not a full tang.

One question about the scrapyards. Is there any decrease in strength because it's not a full tang.

No. The tang is smaller but the blade is still full tang. There's a lot of threads of and about abused res c knives out there and I don't think anyone else would disagree that they are very very strong knives.

Of the 3 you mentioned, R9 all the way. You might want to consider the Scrap yard 1111. It has a bit more reach and power then the R9 and is slightly more budget friendly.

Scrap yard would be a good option if budget is a concern.
The 1111 is like Battle mistress in all dimensions except thickness
