OK Gents,
I need the following questions answered. To the best of your SPYDER WISDOM.

1. What steels was the Rookie made from?
2. What variations was made(pe,se,50/50,liners, noliners)?
3. What G10 colors ,if any were made?

Thanks in advance.

Edit to correct poor spelling.:(

I don't know a lot, but I'll chip in what I can. I know they were made with ATS-55, plain or full serrated edge, and all the G-10's that I've seen had liners.

I add as personal experience that I've never seen a 50/50, colored G-10 or other with blade steel other than ATS-55.

I just wanted to say that I've got a Stainless Rookie PE blade that is ATS 55. I don't know if you are dead set on G-10 but the stainless scales do make for a great knife as well. Just my .02.

Cmon guys where are the SPYDIE BRAINHEADS at? Carlos or Sal please help .Somebody has some more info ,, cmon cough it up,,knowledge is to be shared. so give it up.

Ok guys on the real tip, I am starting to put together a collection of Spyderco Rookies and just want to know what to look for out there.

Right now I am looking for G10 only.

Got one yesterday, New no Box Pristine Mint Rookie G10 serrated GIN 1.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edited to thank leroys 45 and trane fan for their input.

Here's the info on mine:

Black G-10 scales, black tip-up clip, ATS-55 PE with small swedge, one steel liner and steel lined lanyard hole.

I find it interesting that my G-10 Police model is tip-down while the Rookie is tip-up. My G-10 Standard is tip-down, and feels better in my hand than my Rookie. I think that's partly due to the greater distance from pivot to Spydiehole making for more ergonomic opening, plus the different (further down) placement of my thumb on top of the spine when opened. The Standard's G-10 is the roughest I've seen, too. Makes for a great grip.

My Rookie is a surprisingly small feeling knife, but like the Police, it gets a lot of blade into the handle length. (The Standard's handle is about 1/8 inch longer, yet has a blade 1/4 inch shorter!)

IMO, these three knives are "very closely related." :)
