Thanks for all the help, gents. Michael, I know the drawing you're talking about, H.L. Holbrook was also kind enough to share it with me. Between that drawing and Bruce and Eric's comments this morning, here's what I came up with. Bruce, I didn't add the detail across the top (which is shown in the drawing Michael referred to also) because the file kept sliding off! So I decided this would do...

Sorry for the poor lighting for these photos, I haven't got that part figured out yet. These two are going out for heat treat tomorrow. The wharncliff will be developed into a full maritime theme, marlinspike and all. That's why I was so set on the rope filework!
