Today in our local feed store i got to talking to some young guys who work on a cattle farm. As we were posted up near the case display i asked them what kind of knife they were using, assuming it was case. I was soon shown a brand I wasn't familiar with, Roper. They then told me that case was to expensive and both had lost/broken to many for their tastes. They were using roper brand trappers with carbon blades, and they only run around $15. They led me to a small swivel case and I bought 3 of them. After getting home I opened them up and after coon fingering I was very impressed. 2 stockmans were all tight, no play and blades centered. The yellow handled liner lock was the same way(only thing I dislike is the pocket clip). All are carbon, 1065 I think. After doing some research I found out the knives are made in China. Very surprised at the quality and fit & finish. Even more surprising was that I had never heard of them! The salesman at the feed store said they sell quite a few of them, that they are popular with farmers and especially rodeo folks. I'm going to give one to a friend of mine in landscaping and let him put some miles on it and see how it holds up to more use than cutting fishing line!

I've had some rodeo friends carry their Spyderco knock-off.
I never tried one, preferring the real thing to copies of them.
