Absolutely beautiful:
I can easily pick eight images.
You should keep that as it is, put it in a frame and let others enjoy one piece of natures bounty.
Thanks for sharing!

I agree with Mr. Fowler, that's too cool to cut up. Perhaps it would make a nice clock face.

P.S. I decline to comment on the phallic-looking/attentive frog pattern in it... aww shoot, I just did. What would Freud say? :p

So far we've had:

Ram's head
Alien from predator movies
Teddy bear on top of a grizzly bear
Last girlfriend
Davey Jones
Swimming frog
Bat looking down on a frog

Whew !!!! I'm glad we are working all this out... Thanks for checkin it out. James, I am surprised you didn't say solid body guitar billet. These pieces WERE a little too small for that but, I do love that whole idea.

The burl came from a friends parent's yard, and the elm tree was 16 feet around at the trunk when they took it down. It had been there since before my buddy was born, so eventually this stuff will be made into handles for some kitchen knives for his parents.

In the end, a pretty cool thing all the way around. -Larry

There was a story about one of those tests. Each picture produced a similar response from the patient ,mostly pornographic. When the shrink commented the patient answered ,'Don't blame me Doc , you're the one who drew the pictures ! "

I see more every time I look at it. Faces, childrens, a high priest, and and it just keeps becoming more vivid. What size is it?

Hi Ed,
It was about 12" long and maybe 10" wide approx.... It's been cut up now, but I thought it was pic worthy at the time. Larry

HAHAHAAHAHA.... yep I'm sure there's lots of that. I mean hey, if people can see religious figures in french toast, and grilled cheese sandwiches, then that's gotta be the other side of the coin.

Beleive me, I crunched the squinches* in my mind before commenting. Guitar faces are always the first thing I think of when I see a nice bookmatched piece.

That reminds me, there's a butterscotch quilted-maple-topped frankenStrat in my project stable that needs a few finishing touches... :D

* squinches = square inches. Clever, yes?

Someday..........I will have one made. Still haven't found the right piece of wood yet. That quilted top is such a classic its hard to go wrong there. Yep squinches...very clever. So do I have your permission to "re-use that" ??? :p

I sincerely doubt I was the first person to think of it, so it's not up to me to give permission on the use of the term "squinches". Run with it :D
