Hello Y'all

Here is a blade I just finished for customer.

The blade is 15n20 and 1084 tool steel with a partial birdseye and wave pattern damascus. The double guard is Nickel that is fullered. The handle material is Afzalia Burl and a mosaic pin.

Thanks

Daniel Prentice

These burl handles everyone is putting out sends chills up and down my spine. Great work as usual. How do you make the birdseye pattern...or is that a trade secret. I try to figure it out but I can't seem to be smart enough. How does laying over the metal XXX times create such a diverse pattern. It looks like it is folded in a different direction and then cut from a larger bar.

Thanks for the eye art.

That is one beautiful knife, keep up the great work! Can't wait till I'm the proud owned of a Prentice knife.

Thanks for the comments guys... After I get my layer count where I want it.... I will have a very thick billet and will punch or drill holes 1/3 on each side of the billet. This brings the pattern up the the surface where it is drilled/punched. The wavy lines are from the drawing and from the strike marks.... and so on.....

thanks,
Daniel Prentice

btw its spelled-rosconey not roscon-lol again

i guess you can tell a very good piece when the maker wants to keep it ;)

btw -you cant go wrong dealing with dp-its been a pleasure

I am picking up a hat for you and will send them all together.....

Thanks buddy......... and yeah... thought of keeping it......

Daniel

Daniel I think that's your footprint in the knifemaking business, the last few damacus bladed knives I have seen.

To bad I don't own one!

My footprint huh... that sounds cool.... Yeah... I like what I have done the last cpl of months... This blade rocks.... The weight and the balance is what I call perfect for me... NO!!!! I am not keeping it... but this sucker is SWEEET, not only from my point of view as a Bladesmith, but also as a soldier.

You Want one??????
Email me and we can talk........

I second the admiration for the handle and one VERY substantial piece of steel. Picture No. 8 (reproduced below) isn't some kind of optical illusion, is it? Love it!

And damned if I don't trust a knifemaker who doesn't have dirt under his nails.

I am glad you think so.... because I am also an Active Duty Army Nurse (RN) and sometimes I scrub like you would not believe to get clean... and I still get a question....... car troubles????? I just say no.... Knife Troubles... and tell them I make knives......

btw, if you want some carbon.... I can send ya some...

Thanks for the comments.....

in a world of knives with bad lines or ones with no imagination-dp has a unique look, blade lines that flow well -a good eye

if you hook up with him i suggest you do what i did -email every hour on the hour every day and ask for updates, phone him every day and call him nasty names then hang up the phone- follow these instructions and you can have a piece as nice as this-

lol-i gave him basic ideas like the guards shape and nickle plate and mosaic pins(lol) and let him run with it- cant wait to see it in person

I can say that I try and give update while I am making the knife, like I did with Rosconey.....I did make the blade twice....the first time I did not like the pattern so I remade the damascus..... so he had to wait just a little longer. I try and give good emails... and updates... even though I work more than a full time job with the Army and my knifemaking.... This blade was worth the wait to me............. I really enjoyed making this blade.......

Thanks for the compliment buddy...
