Rosewood will work just fine as a handle material.

What do you mean by "laminated rosewood"?

the knife im looking at is has laminated rosewood

how good do you think it will do in the water

im thinking about getting the Western W-49 to use in the bush/woods

From a different thread of yours, is this the knife with rosewood handles that is of question?? Is it also the one that you intend to hunt sharks and catch gators with????

I wonder if he'd like to come out to my place and deal with the Tiger snakes. :)

If he's willing to tackle gators and noahs arks with a $75 laminated rosewood no name stainless steel Bowie, with western logo embossed leather sheath, then I'm sure a couple of little strippy yellow joe blakes won't phase him. I'm waiting on the OMEGA DOOM wildlife doco to hit the big screen.

The current Western W-49 Bowie is made by Camillus. Has a 420HC blade. Not near as nice as the old Carbon Steel Western W-49 that Western made. (BTW Western was bought out by Camillus - Not sure if you knew).

don't 420HC come some what close to 440B or 440C

I have customs with Rosewood handle and they're fine.

My Smith & Wesson .357 also has a Hogue Rosewood handle.

how much better is 440C then 420HC

Both should work just fine for shark testicle stabbing. ;)

Now, for a good slicing and dicing normal knife, the 440C blade is going to be much better.
