There is nothing quite like summertime in the Pacific Northwest. Here are some pics from a camping trip my friends and I went on a couple of weeks ago at Ross Lake in Washington. We usually hike in but this year we took a boat so we could get a little closer to Desolation Peak for a good hike up it. It was still a little early for the water level, usually the water is up at the treeline that you see in the background of the first pic, but it's a good tradeoff since there are way fewer people on the lake. Sadly, I didn't get any in use pics of my Bushfinger but I'll put the pic up of it on my belt while we were filling water filters. My friend Andrew took the pictures.

Water time. You can barely see my Bushfinger:

Here's another gear pic of my GB SFA behind the fire. One good thing about the boat was we were able to bring a whole Copper River salmon in. Sadly, we were a week early for the start of fishing season on the lake so the trout lived to see another day.

I've never been up there, but I'll have to sometime. Looks awesome!

Thanks for the pics!

Nice...as a resident of Vancouver, BC, that terrain sure looks familiar! Glad to see people out enjoying what the Pacific Northwest has to offer on a sunny day!

Great photos, Ross Lake and the valley are beautiful country. Too bad on the fish. How do you like using the bag-style filters with the lake as a water source?

Thanks. It was the first time I had tried a bag filter but it worked really well for us. I would have preferred to use it in a stream but it worked fine in the lake. It was definitely nice to not have to go pump water constantly.

Wow. That is gorgeous. I've never been in an environment like that.

Love these views! Looks like a good hike. Salmon on the campfire - bet that was yummy.

You need to try to make it up here for a show one of these days Andy. Its easy to take the scenery for granted if you live here but it really is one of the nicest places in the country in my opinion.
