I'm a rookie at this balisong stuff...the only information i got about this was from online...

I currently have a Parker and 2 Rostfreis, Just wondering...how come you guys never talk about Rostfrei balis, i hope to have your input on these, like,

What would you rank Rostfrei with Jags, Bear, Taylor, Parker, etc...

What kind of blade steel do they use?

Are all their handles zamak? or, what are they made of?

How are the pins and general strength of one? General quality?

oh, and how much would Rostfreis cost, in general?

I live in New York, where most of this stuff is illegal, so i don't know lots about it. It seems Rostfreis are pretty easy to get here though =)

Anyone know more about this company, i'd like to know!

-Thanks a lot, i've learned a lot through this forum and everyone here!!!

I don't have any balis yet, myself (they're in the mail). What I've read from here, though, is that "rostfrei" isn't actually a company, rather it's the German word for "stainless" (rust free). My understanding is that it typically does not even mean they were made in Germany, only to look like they were. I also understand that most balis marked Rostfrei are going to be lower quality. So, uh, you should send 'em all to me. Yeah, that's it.

All rostfries and jags are made in China or Taiwan. The blades are generally 420 or 440. Rostfries are the worst and then comes a tie with Jags and Bears. The Bears are made in the U.S.A, but are about the same quality as Jags. All the handles are zamak (well at least to the best of my knowledge). In general, jags, bears and rostfries all break. And finally, rostfries are worth no more that $4.

Ah, the infamous made-by-Rostfrei. Yes, rostfrei is a German word often found etched into the tangs of inferior quality butterfly knives made in either China or Taiwan (I'm not sure which).

Since you haven't yet figured out the search function (try to do so ASAP, it'll be much more efficient), there are some links below (they don't pertain to the question exactly, but Rostfreis are mentioned more than a few times):
