I attended a Gun/Knife show in Miami over the weekend and bought, among other items, two kris-blade balis stamped "Rostfrei" on the blades. The dealer said that they were made in Taiwan. I've only twirled them a few hundred times in the last few days, but they seem to be well balanced and certainly well-worth the price (2 balis for $17). If I remember correctly, Rostfreis are usually maligned as "POS's." But so far, in my case, they have proved better flippers than the less-maligned Jaguars, of which I also have two. I particularly like the handles in these Rostfreis. One of them has a black handle and the surface grip is very good for flipping. The other has a sleek, glossy handle surface which also provides a good and comfortable grip. Does anyone know if these are "new generation" Rostfreis, or what?

Yah as Gollnck will come and say Rostfrei is german for stainless. There ok but I still prefer my BM's any day.

Yes Arthur.., if you got the ones I'm thinking of, they are Taiwan-Made, and yeah they aren't bad for what you can get 'em for. I think Josh has some at KnifeZilla, and also auctions a few now and then on BladeAuction.com.

I've taught some kids with them, and I think you'll find the pins don't hold up well under constant use...and they'll get loosey-goosey in a short time. But hey :) $17 for (2) of anything might be considered a good buy! Have fun with 'em!!

Actually I was told that the translation of rostfrei is not "stainless",but "rust free".....basically the same meaning though.

Stagger Lee is correct, Rostfrei is German for "Rust Free" basicly meaning Stainless Steel.

I own two Rostfrei Bali's bought from KnifeZilla. They are great for flipping a few thousand times, but just wait until they start falling apart like mine

Still you can't complain, they are cheap and cheerful and great for practising :)
