Wasn't too sure if this should be in G&G or W&C so mods, put it where you think best.

This is what you've always wanted, but were afraid to ask for. A rotary cellular phone.

What more could you want?

When I was a kid, we had rotary-dial phones and analog watches.

Then, along came touch-tone phones and digital watches.

People predicted the death of the analog clock, certainly the analog watch. In fact, for about a decade or so, you could hardly buy an analog watch.

Today, though, analog watches are back and taking considerable market share.

So, what do you think? Will rotary-dial phones make a comeback?

I think not. Too many businesses have menu systems that can be navigated only by using a push-button phone. Financial institutions, movie theatres, etc.

Hmmm... Don't know where you shop, but my watch store has tons of analog watches for the past 30 odd years. In both mechanical and quartz movements.

Only for the sake of nostaglia. The only advantage of a rotary phone is that they bump you up in queue when you call into a call center. But you don't need a real rotaty phone for that, just listen to the recorded greeting through it's entire cycle.

Reason NYC has 212 Area Code? Because it had the most call volume, and 212 had the shorest rest time for a rotary phone. I doubt anyone would ever want to go back to being second class Area Code.. ;)

True story: I had a trader that worked for one of the financial firms I use to work for. Absolutely refused to give up his multi-line rotary phones (yes more than one). We had to splice in a rotary to dial tone converter on every one of his lines in order for him to do his job. Good thing he was on the short list for retirement.

The most accurate watch I own is an analog Timex Expedition. Feels hefty on my wrist. Don't like watches that are too lightweight. Keeps much better time than my digitals, too.

If everyone purchased rotary phones again the businesses would have to dump those damn things!!!

Hah! I beat him to, it, or atleast my grandfather did. He had a rotary phone put in his 1973 Lincoln Mark when he bought it new (We still have it) It was one of the first car phones and he had it set up so he could take the main parts out of his car and bring them with him so he had a phone when he was running heavy equipment (being the boss of the company if people needed to get in touch with him during the day they would call that number. Of course, the stuff it needed to run was the size of a suitcase with a rotary phone on top. :D
