I am going to rotate through evey knife I own legal to carry in Kansas, that means everything with a blade under 4 inches. I am going to document it everyday and see how this works. They are shuffled so I can't pick them depending on what I am doing.
Day 1. Boker Subclaw AUS 8- Was doing some work around the house and It was somewhat useful, only once did I wish I had a longer blade. Cut down a few boxes and a few zip ties. It worked great on the zip ties. Carried easily, and the frame lock felt secure.
Day 2. Sog Access Card 2.0 black spear point VG-10. Cut my morning cigar with it. Went through a few boxes at work, and cut a bagel. The Arc lock is easy to use, and being super thin it carried great. The grip only fits 3 fingers but it felt plenty secure. It is so thin it was slightly uncomfortable under hear load.
Day 3.Spyderco ZDP-189 Delica PE. Let the guy at the cigar lounge use it to open up there shipment and he mentioned it has a great edge. I take no credit for that as I have never sharpened it. Very light and the blue handles blended in well with my jeans.
Day 4. Spyderco Native S30V PE. Ended up getting the biggest shipment at work that we have gotten in a while. It had to cut open then cut down several dozen boxes, and cut the tops of others to dispense product. The grip was comfortable, but part of the time I did have gloves on. The edge held all the way through, and though I am sure it is duller than it was when I started it still shaves arm hair. The hole being partially obscured did complicate use with gloves.
Day 5. Spyderco Barong VG-10. This knife is a slicer if there ever was one, and carries well. The knife is very comfortable in the hand, but the angle that the blade comes out of the handle makes it a little awkward on a flat surface. I used it in the kitchen mostly and on a few boxes.
Day 6. Case Tangerine Bone Barlow SS. This was a handy little knife although I wished for a little more length a couple of times in the kitchen. It went straight through whatever it cut. Carries well in the back pocket.
Day 7. Cold Steel Gunsite 2 CE. I don't like combination edge and this knife proves my point. Fully serrated and fully plain are the way to go. I have a few more CE knives so I guess I will have to suffer through a couple of days with them. The tanto point worked great for getting the first cigar out of a box, but any knife could have done that. I actually think the tanto point is useful for EDC because I do not need the full length of a blade everyday, and the front edge is great for small jobs. Not so much useful as capable. I would still prefer a nice drop or clip point.
Day 8. Buck 103 Skinner 420HC. Worked great in the kitchen making breakfast. The sheath does not hide very well, but holds securely, and looks nice. Used for some garage clean up dutes involving some scraping, but the blunt tip help up very well. Also cut quite a bit of para cord into pre-measured lengths for this summer's hiking season. It is a great knife.
Day 9. Spyderco Stainless ATR VG-10 PE. This is one of my most carried knives and I am glad my wife pulled it out of the box. It has been through a lot of rough use but it still works like a champ. This things works awesome in the kitchen and is very easy to clean up. The frame type compression lock locks up very well. I also had to trim some very thick plastic from a car bumper and it went right through.
Day 10. Case Large Stockman CV. This is a classic with a great patina and its beautiful. This really it is a do it all knife as long as you do not need one hand opening. The sheepsfoot is great on boxes, and the clip is good in the kitchen, the spey doesn't get much use. Used the sheepsfoot on a few blister packs and it works like its designed for them.
