Rothco bags?

I'm looking to get a simple, small gear bag for weekend trips. Does anyone have any experience with Rothco gear? The bags are sold at a lot of army/navy supply sites etc, and I'm wondering what the quality is like. Also, exactly HOW BIG is a 24x12 inch bag? I'm having trouble picturing the dimensions, even when using a measuring tape.

Never handled their bags but 24x12 is pretty big. Most briefcases or messenger bags tend to run around 16x11.

what do you want to carry in the bag?

24x12 would be about the size of a medium duffle. good for probably 2-3 nights of light clothing and toiletries.

if you are thinking of more of a b.o.b., you probably want something smaller.

That sounds about perfect. I've already got a bug out bag, but I've misplaced my duffle bag and was looking for an affordable replacement. I'll be using this in conjunction with a backpack/carry-on, so I think the size is about right. For the price, I'll probably go ahead and get it, unless someone on here has a nightmare story that convinces me not to do so.

actually, i just measured my travel bag. it is 24" long, 15" tall, and 14" wide.

a little larger than the one you are looking at, but ive used this bag for 4-5 night stays as well.
