Rotor's cable damascus review w/ pics

Nice review for a fantastic looking knife! I love the file work too. It looks like you are saying that the knife would cost $75 to $100- is that right?! Rotor needs a web site or at least a place with pics of his work (I think you should volunteer!

John, Rotor's price for such a knife is $75-$100, depending on if you want a sheath or not. Excellent price for the work! I don't know if he has a webpage or not, but I included his email at the bottom of the review. He is working on some stuff now (first dibs!

) including a tomahawk, I think , so I'm pretty excited. I would gladly put together a webpage (did you like the little Rotor logo I made?) but I know once my practice opens I won't have any time to maintain it, so...

Steve,
An excellent review, this knife really seems to work for you.
BTW I wanted to thank you for your Mosaic pin and kit knife FAQ's.
For those who have not done so, a trip to Chiro's web pag is very informative. Truly time well spent.
take care,
Chad

Thanks, Chad. I actually have two webpages at the moment. My original Geocities account was getting so big that I have started to add pages to a new account. The link in my signature below is the one that will take you to all the tutorials and that sort of stuff. Right now I am working on a step by step Kydex tutorial with drawings. We'll see if it comes to fruition or not!

Chiro,
That is excellent, I've got a few sheets of concealex, and while I've made a few sheaths the quaility on mine does not compare to those of yours that I have seen (in pictures).
Take care,
Chad

Chad, the real difference is the number of sheaths. There really aren't any tricks. You'd laugh if you see how I do it, but it's what works for me and if it doesn't turn out right I do it until it does! Every time you make a sheath it will be better than the previous one. Most of the shill is in thoughtful design/planning and simply having the experience. The process itself is the simple part.

Excellent review of an interesting knife!

In Ed Fowler's book "Knife Talk" he talks of brazing brass into cable damascus, and greatly improving it in one fashion or another. I believe it was edge holding, but wouldn't want to be held accountable.

The knife looks to be of a very useful size. Sure would want a sheath with it, though. I do kind of worry about the leather as I'm a person with lost of pretty acidic sweat. Not on my hands like I used to have, just the rest of my body. (Sorry, you probably didn't want to know that)

I'd sure appreciate an update if Rotor does put together a web page. Thanks.
