Would rotors be suitable for forging into a blade or as part of a damascus. I have some and can get more.

Let me know,

Mike

Rotors? Like in disc brake rotors? No. I think they are cast iron or similar. If you are wondering around the car junk yard keep your eye open for front coil springs and rear leaf springs. Unually 5160. If you want damascus materials I suggest buying new 1084 and 15n20.

No!
I used to work as a mechanic, that is how I payed for my first year of college. Discs, Drums and their pads have different amounts of aspestos and other materials that do not let the steel temper, older cars are an exception, some discs wear away faster than others, depends also on the pads. (I wont get too into it, but there is a difference. When you race these things matter.)

They have no place in knife making.

However, we all know spring steels make neato knives... so there you go.

At a Car Smashup For Fun or Charity:
If you have a good heavy pair of gloves, and the wheels are off once the lug nuts and bolts are sheared of off with a hammer (they hate it when you do this!) The disks make good smashing implements!
