I,ve been considering getting a Rotring 600 ballpoint(knurled brass) thinking that it can do double duty as a kubaton but would like the opinion of others.Comments please.

I've been carrying a (smooth) Rotring 600 Tri-Pen for about a year now. I replaced the red refill with a stylus. IMO, It's a great little SD piece.

One caution. The only place that sells the knurled verion of this pen is Levengers. Their service and prices leave a lot to be desired.

I’ve carried a Rotring 600 chrome knurled ballpoint for years. I didn’t think they made them anymore. I thought they just made the smooth version now. It’s my favorite pen. It would work as an emergency weapon, but it would be damaged.

I've had a few old black matte pieces for years. The only one I keep loaded now is a capped ballpoint with a Fisher refill in it. You could use this for a kubotan. You could use it to break out car windows. Tough stuff.

My Rotring 600 Lava is about the sturdiest pen I could find, but I don't think it has much potential as a kubotan. It is less likely to come apart in your hand, but it is not really big enough to develop good force. I think of it as purely a last-ditch option that has a little potential for poking.

It makes a pretty decent pen, though. Works at least as well as almost any other, takes a good and popular refill (Parker or Fisher). Sturdy. You could do a lot worse. I carry one in my shirt pocket, but rarely use it, preferring ergonomic desk pens.
