Here is one of mine that Gary Levine just sold.levineknives.com
4'' blade 1200 layers of W2,1080,1060, clay heat treared hamon, mosaic bolsters, blue mammoth ivory with natural texture, gold pins.
I thought you guys might like to have a look.

Thanks, Don Hanson lll sunfishforge.com

Another masterpiece, Don. That sure is some gnarly mammoth ivory, almost looks like stag. Your material choice always seems to compliment the overall design. Sweet!

Wow, another little stunner. I've never seen mammoth ivory like that. Quite a find. The hamon and bolster are really spectacular, as well.

Yep. I thought I was looking at stag too. Don, you obviously have a good source of some amazing fossil ivory. Sweet knife buddy!

Keep it up, Don and we're gonna have to change your nickname from Sunfishman to That Ivory Guy.

Great work, Don!

Very clean lines on this one. Love the profile.

Very nice sir.
Gotta get some of that blue mammoth ivory one of these days.
If you have a steady source and would share it, you can pm me at bladesrus@comcast.net.

Thanks
Robin Brown
Hi Robin, I don't have a steady source for ivory, but I do go to 4 or 5 major knife shows a year and buy all the ivory I can possibly afford whether I think I need it or not.
I have also bought quite a bit on ebay this year.
I like to have a large stash to chose from, because not all ivory works on all blades.

Looks great Don, got anything special in the works for Chicago?
See you there,
Chuck
Hi Chuck,
I'll have a couple of special pieces at the Chicago show.
See ya there.

Don Hanson

Hi Don,

Thanks for sharing, you get some very nice pieces of ivory, no question about that.

I may want you to make me a nice ivory handled knife next year sometime. I've spent the quota for this year already, and then some.
