Hi guys, Been lurking around here for awhile and have learned a lot of good stuff! I just received a couple of rough riders a desert painted canoe and a yellow handle peanut. This is my first canoe pattern and peanut (I probably would not have gotten the peanut, but it gets some much good reviews on here) Both knives surprised me on fit and finish and they were shaving sharp out of the box. The canoe is a nice pattern I really like the painted desert handle and I'm surprised at how comfortable the little peanut is and how well it cuts for it's size ( I now know why the pattern is so well liked!) I'm pretty sure I will be buying more rough riders:D

The peanut did have a darker spot on the handle (nothing that bothers me on a $8.00 knife)

I also did a youtube review on them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKYjg-aDmdM

I have that same canoe and really like it. I was checking out a website the other day and I think I'm going to give my wife a list of "colors" she can get me another canoe in since I already bought myself a Case Eisenhower which I really like. I might give her permission to get me a peanut since they are inexpensive but I really think that the Eisenhower is the smallest knife I'll deliberately get from here on out.

Well, those seem to be really nice knives. I´m thinking about ordering such a nice peanut, or even that canoe... (For sure, as always said in that forum .... GET BOTH :D )

Kind regards
Andi

The RR Peanut I have comes in Green Gunstock checkered bone. Good finish and the joints are sunk, so it's smooth in the pocket. Blades might be too thin for some people, but they slice well.

every rough rider i've seen is 440A...

oh and they do have a damascus lockback (no idea what that is though)

Great knives. I have several, including the Peanut and I had a Canoe, but just couldn't warm up to the pattern. You're hooked, now. Take a look at the Trapper and Stockman patterns, too.

Hi B.B.M -

Cool pictures - thanks!

I have a RR Large Trapper that outdoorsfan gave to me as a gift when I hosted a JK Gathering at my home this past spring.

Like you, I was very impressed at the build quality of the knife, and it was very nicely packaged in a tin box.

I love Rough Riders don't let the price fool you they are very nice for the money. I have a couple in my EDC rotation along with my GEC'S and Case's my favorite RR pattern is the little 3 blade congress due to it's small size it see's a ton of pocket time.
