Saw an ad for two of the Rough Rider 1101 Knives for 13.99, good deal? Never heard of the brand name before.

I've only seen thr rough rider slippies in person, I have a few and they're pretty darn good for the money, in fact I think I have a green bone RR peanut on me right now. For 13.99 your not losing out much so give em a shot and let us know!

The slipcase and simple lockbacks that they make are excellent for the money. They make knives for other companies, but will typically also sell the similar knife with RR branding as well. I own a "whole mess of them" as well as their branded counterparts.

Aside from onlyoffering 440C for the steel (which is very adequate), they are great daily users.

The Rough Rider brand has established itself as a respectable name specializing in good quality low priced knives. Most of their wares are along the lines of "traditional" knives. The knives you posted are among the few exceptions of modern folders they sell.

I suspect Rough Rider may source knives from several different vendors. The traditionals seem to be more or less from the same factory. I've seen a RR slipjoint that had an all stainless etched handle rather than bolsters/scales, one of several models with this theme. I suspect they may be sourced from a different factory, as the workmanship and design details are different than their other traditionals. Some of RR earliest folders were modern designs that I am quite sure were made by whoever makes current Sanrenmu knives. The linerlock folder in the picture reminds me of a Sanrenmu product.

Whoever runs the Rough Rider name seems conscientious about putting out a good quality product. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a RR from a reputable dealer.

If you dont want to spend much on a knife but would like it to be nice a RR is a very good buy for the money. They usually come sharp and are well made for the price. GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

I've handled and owned a great number of Rough Rider Slipjoints and have been impressed a great deal by their overall quality and finish given their low price. With that being said I have no experience with their more modern folders.
