I have recently discovered a love for the trapper style, namely the spey and clip point blades. I was intending on buying more with various scale materials when I happened upon a few Rough Riders with a straight razor like blade instead of a spey. I could not find much in the way of a review of them. I know how many people are fans of RR blades so I'm hoping someone here has owned one before and can say if they worth it or should I just get a regular trapper? I don't intend on using it to shave, it would be more for normal cutting tasks during the day (open letters and boxes, trim threads etc.)

Is this the one you are referring to? I own it but it never makes the cut for my regular rotation so I can't comment much on its use. It was dirt cheap, I was curious about the brand, and I'm a sucker for a razor.

Fit and finish are typical of RR: pretty decent for the money. At 4" closed it's a fairly large knife and the razor, when closed, rides very high and proud making the purchase a bit awkward when you're using the clip blade. Quite honestly I would not expect a long edge retention out of any RR. IMO they're good light duty knives but I wouldn't rely on one as my primary EDC. Just my $0.02.

The one I that caught my eye had red bone but that's the same blade configuration. It would be more or less a backup blade in my EDC rotation. I might get it for the novelty since it is quite inexpensive.
