I bought the synthetic Old Yeller version nigh on 14 ("Earth"/Local) years ago.
Good knife. The Marlin Spike assisted in splicing somewhere around 125 loops in triple strand fiber rope, aboard the boss' charter yacht and dingies.
(dock lines, dingie anchor lines, dingie lift lines, fender lines, safety lines, etc. All fiber rope rigging was spliced double braid. I never had to mess with the wire rope standing rigging.)

I did some digging into all the cool things you can do with a Marlin Spike! I knew it was great for nautical uses, but I didn’t realize it had other uses. Right now, I’m using it to untangle super-tight shoelace knots.
