I have a customer who want a handle of G-10 on a large bowie. I've never used this stuff before, I know it can be nasty though. He'd like the scales "roughed up" for grip. The blade's going to be 5160 and I was going to etch the whole thing. Maybe bead blasting? What do you fellas suggest?

OK I guess it's a matter of perspective. To someone like me...your OK. To everyone else...??? ;)

humm.....bead blast would be the best as far as overall coverage....what would you do...sand to 320 or so then bead blast? What about blasting with pecan shells?

I had to sandblast names in 2 part foam footballs at the NC State football training facility.
That pecan stuff is laying around here somewhere. Just currious..

Jay, G10 is my favorite stuff to work with,it grinds easy and takes a good finish,I grind it to 220 grit,I than wet sand it up to 600 grit it does not take long, the wet sanding really brings of the woven pattern in it and it has a good feel to it,I clip a wet sponge to the top of grinder and let the belt run over It,that will cut done on all the nasty dust,I just use cheap A/O to work it
Just some of my thoughts on working G10:)
