My apologies if this has already been asked and answered - I couldn't find it using search, and Google wasn't of much help.

I am looking for a round head knife pattern for cutting leather. Is it as simple as drawing a 1/2 circle with about a 4 1/2" diameter with a simmetrical handle on it? What thickness steel should I use?

Thanks in advance!

I wish I could help you. I don't have one but I've thought about making one for myself. If you don't find an answer here, you might try the guys in the Sheath forums.

Thanks guys. I'll also ask my question in the sheath section and on Leatherworker.net...

A round knife and a head knife are slightly different patterns. search for custom head knife

Leatherworker.net is a great resource and forum (thats where I am from MADMAX22 over there). Granted only leather oriented there are alot of pics and discussion on styles of headknives and round knives.

One thing to give ya an idea is Bruce Johnson sells alot of classic older knives and various shapes and sizes. You can look at the pics he has posted of ones for sale to maybe give ya an idea of different shapes. http://brucejohnsonleather.com/content/index.php/leather_tools_for_sale/leather-cutting-tools-for-sale/

Thanks Quint. I've been on his site a few times, and I'm currently working on a sketch for one. I
ll post it up a little later for everyone's critique.
